I was out relic hunting and came across this item I am unsure what it is. I dug it in Ringgold Georgia where civil war artifacts have been dug. They are building a house and the bulldover took 4in off the top and this item was about 2in deep. it measures 1in wide by 2 3/4in long.

not sure, but looks like part of older style fastening system used to hold conveyor belting together.there would be an identical item on the underside of the belt and was held together be rivits or bolts.these would be side by side across the width of the belt.
