Was checking out my older finds and came across this button found in a field in Suffolk. Does anyone recognize it or have any idea if it has any collectible value. It is in great shape as you can see from the pictures. Thanks in advance for any help.

Suffolk?

As in, ENGLAND?

Or some Suffolk here in the USA?

As the previous respondent said, it is a US General Service button from the Civil War era. Waterbury is probably the most common backmark on these.

Congratulations on the find- definitely a "keeper"! Nice condition, too.

I have dug several here in the Deep South- them dang Yankee buttons are more common than Confederate ones. Maybe our boys just sewed their buttons on a little tighter! :csflag::D

The button was found in a plowed field in Suffolk, VA. Thanks for the replies.
