Help Identify Gold Ring Found

John in Tampa

New member
Found this ring in KY at a confederate camp where I actually found a CS tongue buckle and several other typical camp finds. Doubt that it is civil war but it is weird that I didn't find anything modern, just civil war stuff. Thanks for your help!

Looks old and ornate.
Nice find ,any writing on it anywhere ?

You may want to check what K of gold it is.
Take it to a jeweler or do the acid test on it would be interesting to see the gold content .

Years back, they didn't stamp the gold. I'm sure it's an old piece. Very nice find. HH, Nancy

If the area your in yields only Civil War stuff, then it makes sense for this to be from the same era. The fact that it also has no writing or karat marks makes sense too. This could easily be a 19th century engagement ring. You have to remember that the "traditional" diamond ring only became popular in the Victorian era. The two hearts merging into one also leads me to believe this. I'm by no means an expert but these are educated guesses based on historical fact.
