Help ID this military pin

I have looked around a bit and figure it was either a veteran or valor pin? It is boots, riffle and helmet in the letter V. Any help is much appreciated.

You should check the token/tag in the upper left of the picture and compare it with a large cent to see if its the same size. I've seen some worn LC's used for similar purposes and sometimes they can be ID'd.

My large cent I have for reference weighs 10.1 grams while the name tag weighs 9.3 grams (It is pretty smooth all over). What else should I be looking for?

Neil

I will say however my large cent does have quite a bit of dirt still caked in it (may make up for some of that diff in weight as well as the hole that is cut out of the tag.

Neil

The tag looks very worn and smooth, the diameter should still be close unless someone pounded it out flat and made it larger. I doubt thats the case though. If the diameter isn't very close its probably not a LC. The weight difference could be explained from wear. Can you see any outlines or hints on the surface that could be from a coin design?

Can you post a couple pics of each side of the token? Its hard to tell much from the partial picture. I'm looking for hints of a design I could recognize. It seems it may have what looks to be a wreath on it. Here is a GIF showing what I'm looking at.

Sorry it took me so long to respond (had a busy weekend)... I will get some pics of it in comparison with a lc.It is really smooth and flat (a bit larger than a large cent as well) if it was it is pounded pretty flat.

Neil

OK, I have my doubts then. I don't see why anyone would go through the trouble of increasing the size by pounding it flat but its possible.

Although, I do see obvious hammer marks in several places.

I would have to say its just a tool tag off something... Weight and things all add up but I am unable to find anything in the tag itself that would point to it having any lc details in it unfortunately. Still an interesting find...
Neil

Oh ya, its huge compared to the LC. At first I thought that was a small cent next to it, lol. I wonder what 'CAMDEN' means? A last name, maybe. Still neat to find a hand tooled tag.
