Help, I went to the beach with Xterra 70 and no manual. Need setup for beach detecting wet salt

What mode do you use? I tried all metal that has iron mask with beach ground balance and tracking and was not happy with results. I used a pull tab as a test object and while I would get a beep on the first pass, the tracking tuned it out really fast on the second sweep of the coil. I am spoiled using my explorer and sovereigns for years on the beach but hoped the X70 with 10.5" DD medium freq. coil would do a respectable job so I could use it when my explorer arm gives out. Any help appreciated,

Jerry Talley

Hi Jerry.if you go to www.minelab.com and click on support you will find downloadable manuals including Xterra 70.Cheers Dargo.

Jerry Ive set mine up like the manual says and its correct for here in NJ at the ocean. That would be beach mode with tracking on, sens at about 15, this would be adjusted of course to how your beach is but Ive never been able to get above 17. I keep it in all metal and noise cancel also every so often also.
When I get a diggable target I will take it out of tracking if its faint but otherwise I leave it in tracking on the stronger targets. I use the larger explorer like coil, the high freq one the most. Gets real respectable depth and runs smooth. It wont match either the Sov or Explorer in depth but it may suprise you:cheers:
