Help! I need a good waterproof saltwater detector

New member
I need a good waterproof detector that works well in shallow salt water and salt water beaches. I have a good detector that works great on dry sand. Get it near the salt water and forget about it. I live on Cape Cod and it's almost all beach. I need a detector that I can use in shallow water and rainy days. I need suggestions. thanks Dave

Any Minelab Excallibur :minelab: old or new IMO.

After much dilemma and only being able to salt water beach hunt once a year while on vacation, I chose to try the Excalibur II 1000. I took the advice of forum members and also purchased a straight shaft for added ergonomics and increased comfort. There are many choices of salt water beach machines that will serve you well, but it boils down to how much you want to spend and rather you purchase New or Used.

There are some good reports on the New AT Pro by Garrett, stating the machine runs very stable and has good depth. Any high end machine that is designed for your particular type or style of detecting will do the job.

Good Luck on your decision and Happy Hunting

I bought a Garrett Seahunter Mark II last spring and have been very happy with it. I use it as a hip mount in the surf, chest mount actually. Very deep, picks up small items very easily.

My White's Surf PI Dual Field is excellent and cost effective as well.

Take a hard look at the Fisher CZ-21.

Your gonna love it. If your going in the water be sure to get a good long handled scoop as well! Looking forward to seeing your pictures

only one said any thing about Garrett sea hunter , no one mention the sea hunter only cost less than $700 and go's deeper than the excal 2. you can buy the sea hunter and a 10x14 mono coil cheaper than the price of an Excal 2.HH
