Help! Highly mineralized ground and great dept settings

Hi guys

I need some help to find the best settings for highly mineralized ground to achieve the best depth and TID. The ground I`m hunting is also full of iron trash. I usually hunt by ear in 50 conductive and ground coin, but in this ground I get confused by all the jumpy signals. Sometimes big iron nails show me and sounds like there is 2 targets, one good and one iron but there is only iron in the hole/plug.

Well I run in combined with long tone and ferrous/coin mode, auto + 3 and do very well in my ground which is pretty hot IMHO, I also keep deep off and fast off,,,,, try it and see what you think !!!

Thanks Grouser.
I`ve tried combined already(missing a lot of signals close to iron even with fast on) but not with long tone. Ferrous/coin does not work. Auto 3 gives me a lot of falsing. I need to stay on auto 1.
I`ll try long tones and see if that will help me :twodetecting:

Whenever I find a deeper target I go through the ground settings (high trash, ferrous coin & ground coin). The manual says high trash works in all kinds of grounds but I find when the ground gets mineralized the icon starts to jump around on 7" + deep coins. Anyway, I'd compare those settings AND also compare sensitivity with each of those settings - as some have said you can run hotter in ground coin. Even if it is not a coin that you find, it is still a pretty valid way to go through methodically and compare. Further you can compare disc patterns, recovery speeds, etc.

From doing the above I pretty much know ferrous coin is the best (most stable, deepest) ground setting for my somewhat iron mineralized ground. But, I still compare on those fringe depth targets as things may change. I found also that recovery fast doesn't clip signals as much on shallower targets but still does so on deeper targets BUT it also seems to make more of a difference than on the E-Trac imo.

Basically, find something deeper and play - you will answer your own question and find optimal settings with little problem.

Albert
