Newbie with a problem before even getting started. Just bought a cobra beach magnet off cregslist, was semi working when i checked it out as soon as i got home tryed to use it in backyard had no sound, found coil or coil wire has open connection at coil,if you can hold the wire just right and push in you can get a sound. Just got off the phone with kelleco and they said coil could not be replaced, wanted to sell me a new one. any help would be greatly appreciated

You are in the wrong place, this is a Garrett forum.

Hello all,
Just received confirmation that my new fini arrived in panama been waiting over three months. That's not bad. It has been raining that long any way. Rivers are up moving new deposits into unfound areas. Excited to do some early season nugget shooting. Have many many miles of rivers to search and miles of never explored land that is in the jungle along these routes. My panning and sluicing have brought mild results. Hoping this machine will change my luck for the better. The ground is very mineralized with allot of hot rocks. VLF does not work at all. Just hard work and a lot of bug repellent and sharp machete keep me moving.
To all take care,
Another day in paradise

Fix the coil or buy a new one. Buying used does not always save money. But if you had bought a Garrett they might have fixed it for you.

Yeah, I am sorry this happened to you, but it probably is the best thing that could have happened..you could not find a VW bug in 6" of sand with that thing anyway, so now you learned like we all have in the past...welcome to the club, get some good gear from a reputable mfg. and you will pay off this hard lesson in short order. Consider it tuition and move on...

Somewhat surprising that KC won't accept it back? Then again, this isn't necessarily a bad thing for you. From what I hear they are not good mds.

I'm not familiar with this unit, but wish you good luck. Garrett has some starter detectors that are very economical and work very well and the At/Pro is just a little higher and you can use it in the water or on land. If you can replace the coil and use this detector until you decide if you want to pursue this hobby and maybe upgrade some, good luck and happy hunting.
