Recently went to Waikiki beach. Excited for a very populated beach hunt. Turned on my detector and got erratic threshold. Put down a ring in the sand to test. It would hit on the ring in the middle of the madness in my ears. Any ideas? I'll work on a video.

I live on the big island. I know all about minerals. It will do this even while I hold it still. Thank you for the advise. Any other ideas?

Hold it in the air..... if it does it ..... EMI would be the obvious guess reduce your sensitivity and see what happens. Mine will pick up EMI here in FL in a couple of spots when the wind blows.... coming off high tention wires. Also ensure there isnt any sand in the coil cover that makes um chatty. Worst case ..... coil.

Check that ikelite on the bottom of the main tube as well. We have a tendancy to put our headphones on the cuff when done. They move around alot and can crack an ikelite. That will make it chatter. Joes taught me a lot....that and I break a lot.

What are you referring to as the ikelite? I am a diver and a ikelite to me has to do with underwater lights and camera equipment. Can you elaborate please?
