Went detecting this morning with my F2..my target was a tot-lot and a couple of soccer fields..the soccer fields were wet with dew.i got one sideline just fine but when i got halfway down the other side my tector started goin nuts..just had put new battrys in it.even in the air the number would jump all over the place.i put one of my found quarters on the ground and it would i.d. it ok but when i would come off the quarter it would go back to bouncing all over the place..can anyone help!

Check the usual things like coil connector. Remove and reinsert it and hand tighten to a snug feel only.

You mentioned replacing batteries, do you still have the old ones OR other new ones? Try them just to confirm it isnt battery related. In cold weather, all batteries wont perform as well as when warm, perhaps make sure the replacement batteries are alkaline too, they are capable of more power.

best of luck

I would check the coil under water in a sink, or spray it outside with a hose. It should not act up when there is dew on the grass. Might just have a bad coil..............

I don't think where the cable enters the coil on the F2 is very water-tight. I sealed around mine with some silicon.

how long shall i let these coils sit out to hopefully dry out any moisture in them before i silicon them.im still having problems with them.

i turn my oven on low and let it warm, not hot, turn it off then put the coil in. do that cycle for a while it will dry out
