Texgal instead of mounting the box on your belt consider mounting on your chest. On your belt water deeper than your belt will cause unit to float up and dig into your side atleast it did for me. I found an alternative mount. It gets the box off from the shaft, this is highly recogmended its much easier to move shaft and coil thru water. It is also relatively easy to use the pinpoint button, I know alot of md'ers don't use the pinpoint button while water hunting but I like to. Anyway atleast another perspective.

Nice idea and many chest mount their land CZ's the same way as meter is easier to see and weight is taken off the hip onto the larger, stronger back muscles..Being comfortable makes for a more enjoyable hunting trip and some of our fellows come up with ldeas
that do just that. Check the mod's forum or attend a planted hunt and just might get some more ideas...

Texgal, Hopefully you will find a belt clip out there. Don't worry about the 8 inch stock coil, it will go as deep as anything out there and will pinpoint everything very accurately.

Could you post a picture of how the straps are in the back?

Since the box is lighter in the water and wants to float, are you bothered by it coming up on you or do you just stay out of the deep water?

Thanks,

Lee

they loop around each arm. the tightness can be adjusted. so the position of unit on chest can be higher or lower if you choose. the problem with the control digging into my side when it was on my belt was really bad when i was hunting in chest/neck deep water. now the only time the control is completely under water is when i'm neck deep & the harness does a much better job of keeping the control housing positioned next to my body & keeps it from floating up mcuh better then the belt clip which fits pretty loosely on my apron belt.

i don't have picture of my back with the harness on but i will try to get one.
