I am looking for a new beach detector. I am choosing between whites dfx and Mine lab sovereign gt. Which is the better of the two.I do not at this time do any inland detecting but will in the future. I use it for Delaware beaches only.I am a novice my previous detector was a garret ace 250 and I need to upgrade for beach. If there is another detector someone suggest please let me know

Hi chairpa, and welcome. I haven't used the DFX but hear it's a fine machine, dual frequency if I'm not mistaken. I do use the Minelab Sov GT and it's an awsome machine. I don't think you would be going wrong with either but I am biased toward Minelab. Best of luck and getting in the hunt is the main thing. Again, welcome aboard. This is a fun place with a great bunch of people.

Hi guys! I've been detecting not quite a year yet. I started last March after I retired. I have a Bounty Hunter Land Ranger. I hunt almost exclusively dry sand area of salt water beaches. My Bounty Hunter doesn't seem to do that well in the shallow water or the hard packed wet sand area. I did manage to gather over $200 in clad in my first 9 months, so I'm not complaining! I too am looking to upgrade and I am looking at those two detectors as possibilities.. I do plan to do more tot lot/park/old house hunting, but most of my detecting will be on the beach mostly due to where I live.

Minelab is my first choice. I have a excal 1000 and sov GT, just this morning I found a huge diamond ring with my sov gt , Great metal detector and very stable in the wet sand ,I just bought it a week ago. and hit the long ball this morning with it . I'm sold . HH guzz1.
