Check here for info on it. I had one. It was my first detector. Not bad for the money.. I don't think they have a volume control, but can't really remember as it has been a while. I think i would think about the Technetics Delta instead though. JMO

I have an Elite 2200 which is the identical machine. BTW, Big 5 Sporting goods has them on sale right now for $139.
I also have a Pioneer 550 and I prefer the Elite 2200 WAY more than the Pioneer. It is lighter weight and SOOOOOOOO much easier to swing. It has an GIGANTIC display and is Very easy to see. The depth seems as good as the Pioneer, it has four tones, solid-state controls to limit dust and water infiltration variable sensitivity, discrimination and notching. To shows probable target ID and depth. For the money, there is no better detector out there. Yes, the volume of the tones is fixed but there are headphones you can buy with volume controls in them that will allow you to turn down the volume if you want.

I have two Discovery 2200's, picked them up on sale at a local big box store earlier in the summer so my wife can get out too. Simple to use, fairly accurate on depth. Have had reliable hits at least to 5 inches. Sometimes the display shows deeper when it may not be. We run in all metal mode as Canada clad can be shown as iron, so if your not adverse To digging its great for the money. The tones are set and no volume adjustment. Very light to swing with a large display (no back light). Ground balance is factory preset and there is no GB adjustment. It does not do well in wet sand giving a lot of falsing at least in my area. Does great in parks and dry sand though. No static pinpoint function its a move to detect MD and you need to X the area to get final location, Get a propointer to go with it. a pinpointer really helps. The coil is waterproof and can be submersed in water, the control box cannot. The shaft is two part with cam locks, nice to keep the shaft rigid at the connection. . Takes two 9V batteries.

For the money its great, does the job and at the price there is no worries about it being bounced in the back of the car. The only down side with two is we have to work a fair distance apart or they do interfere with each others frequency.

For a starter MD I am very pleased with them.

One final note, I tried headphones on one of mine today and it worked great but after the test I cannot get the audio tones to work through the internal speakers. Obviously something broke in the headphone jack on the first use. The tones still work fine through the headphones. So now I have one unit that is a headphone only use Discovery 2200 until I get a chance to get inside and change the jack this winter. I have no idea if this is a common problem or if I'm just lucky :sadwalk:

I have an old C Scope 770d and I had the same problem, the speaker would not work after using the headphones, I think it was that something was jammed in the headphone socket as sometime later the speaker was working again, as it is a very old machine and cost very little I may have sprayed a little WD 40 into the headphone socket.
The detector is about a late 1970 vintage but still works very well but the best design area is that the phone socket is under the unit so water cannot run into the socket, why do you not see this design idea now.

You do, in the Elite/Discovery 2200 units.

I finally got around to playing with the headphone jack to see if I could get the external sound back after it would not come sound after trying headphones. I never figured out how to open the unit as its pretty much a solid piece of plastic. I assume the lens comes off but I didnt want to try that and crack it. I ended up playing inside the jack with a straightened paper clip and the external sound now works again. Needless to say I will not be using the headphone jack on this unit again. Not a big problem as I have two anyway :) I still like them for the light weight and the price was excellent.
