Help buying an SE.

I have been out of the hobby for a while but want to get back in. I found a nice used SE with a 10" slim line coil and 8" Sunray stealth coil. It also has a recharge lens battery pack and a couple regular battery packs. Price is $650 shipped. I wish it had the Pro coil but that is easily fixed. What is your opinion of the coils and price. I'm thinking it is a fair deal but want to be sure.

I would not pay that, regardless of the x8 coil...I have seen two x8 coils n the last month going for 100 bucks, and I know that coil has a following but I've owned it and the 6x8 sef,,,,and never saw a difference.jmo...
If your paying 500 bucks or more for a explorer se it should have the pro coil,I got mine for 450 and it's got the red professional on the box,so it's a little newer than the se..

pro-coil is lighter, but I had 1.5" better depth with the older coil.

Also, some of the SE-Pro's had a different processor that the first year of producdtion model se-pros. The latter models had a faster processor. Don't have a pic, but that is what minelab's tech confirmed during a phone call in October of 2015. I have pics of the internals on a II and SE and konw they are different but not the SE and SE-PRO. Regardless, it makes you wonder.

The last four Se-Pro's on eBay (Nov-current) sold for around $450. That included shipping. Keep that in mind. Also, there is a guy on Friendly metal detecting forums that has a mint SE for sale for $500 shipped. Might want to check that out.

Well I ended up buying an SE Pro but not the one mentioned above. It came with a 13" ultimate coil and a smaller 5x8 coil (not sure of brand) in addition to the stock pro coil. I won't say what I payed for it because I would rather keep believing I paid a fair price but I really liked the assortment of coils and they really add versatility. I plan on keeping this machine for a long time so I will eventually forget about what I payed.

You got yourself a real nice group of coils ...Look at it this way,,you made a investment not a purchase. This is the only hobby that pays for itself..congrats on the new rig,let us know if you need help,a lot of great info here.

Thank you. I sure will. ]

If you're happy with your purchase then it's all good. You sure as HELL won't be disappointed in the performance.
