Lets talk the Iron Audio feature... the dimension of sound Rod keeps telling me about....I'm afraid I've fallen down and can't get up:cry: :help:

Since I have never used any AT other than my Blackie and just found out that the factory preset sensitivity setting is supposed to be two bars east of west when looking south:rofl: instead of due west full speed ahead as is the factory preset on Blackie, then riddle me this. Does the iron audio feature automatically come on "normally" at start up on your machine or do you have to manually turn it on to activate it when you want to use it?

Example if I had a machine that hasn't danced with the devil in the pale moonlight and upon turning it on (it comes on in Standard Mode custom) there is a triangle with a "20" in it and directly under the "20" it says iron disc. Directly under where it says "Iron Disc" and between where it say"Target ID" does anybody see the words "Iron Audio" on startup or do you have to push the Iron Audio button after startup to see the words "Iron Audio"

Push the Iron Audio button after startup and you will see the words Iron Audio ( Page 27 Owners Manual )

You must have a military compass, only ones I know that use a south bearing instead of north!! These settings you cite, are they after doing a "Factory reset?? It should come up at 75% Sens, 0 on the iron disc and in the Standard Coins mode and Iron Audio Off if I remember correctly.

Thanks for the fast reply Leslie:thumbup:

I had referred to the Owners Manual, after 800 or so operational hours on my :inlove: "Blackie":inlove:. I just needed human confirmation that I wasn't quite as krazy as Rod Serling was subliminally telling me I was.

After re-reading the manual, and if it is correct, I now know that I am either hopelessly caught up in the dimension of sensitivity, mind, and sound, but also driving the short bus fast into the dimension of sight too, or my :inlove: "Blackie":inlove: has taken on a new life beyond her factory settings, and is in fact controlling ME!!

I see Iron Audio when I start up and if I push the Iron Audio button it goes away...... :cry::rofl:

All compasses in the Twilight Zone use a southbound orientation:thumbup:

You posted whilst I was replying........upon firing her up she comes on in Standard Mode Custom with 20 Iron Disc Iron Audio ON, with Sensitivity 100%

Yea I can factory reset and everything is Kosher, until I turn the machine off, and she goes back to the settings she wants, 5 bars full max on sensitivity, and with the Iron Audio On at start up. So to get to factory settings on start up I have to back her off two bars on sensitivity, and turn off Iron Audio.

One of us is going to get a lobotomy.......

I did a little experimenting this afternoon with Iron Audio. Originally I had thought that there was no difference between using Custom Mode, Disc of 40, Iron Audio turned ON and Zero Mode, 00 Disc with Iron Audio turned off. Both of these settings will have the same break points between low, middle and high tones. However there is a noticeable difference in recovery speed.

So I tried both settings above exactly the same ground. I used Custom/40/Audio on until I found a spot where the ground gave that rapid fire mutter from whatever it is finding and then switched to the Zero Mode/00/Audio Off. In the zero mode instead of the rapid fire low tones, I got just a few low tones and a lot of times a solid middle tone where the custom mode did not hear a mid tone. Now that I think about it, five of my silver finds was where the separation from iron trash was very small. Next time I get one of those dual Low-High/High-Low tones, I am going to use both modes again to cross check this.

If you set the Zero Mode at Disc 40 with Iron Audio turned on they will be exactly the same but I am lazy and use the custom mode so I do not have to set it every time I turn the machine on. I hope this does not create any confusion. Just my observations.
