Hi my brother-n-law whats to start detecting. Looking at F2 Bundle or Ace 250 Bundle even Ace 350 just need a little advice on starting out, be the easy to operate, but also the the good results.

Thanks bill

Bill the best detector is the one you learn how to use. What I mean is buy the one you can afford, then get out there and learn how to use it. I have been detecting for over 8 years now and you got to pay your dues, buy hunting allot and getting to know your detector.

I agree with Frank(FL). Any detector in that price range will be very similar. I don't have any experience with Fisher, but I do know Garrett very well and I can say with certainty that both the ACE 250 and 350 are excellent machines. But no matter what you choose, as Frank said you have to be willing to spend time and be patient and willing to learn what that particular machine is trying to tell you.

I've had the F2 and Ace 250. The Sniper coil on the 250 goes deeper and can get closet to metal supports than the F2's 4 inch coil. The coils on the Garrett's are built a lot heavier than the Fisher. The Ace 250 runs on 4 cheap AA batteries and the F2 uses higher priced 9 volts (2). But the F2 has a quicker recovery and is at least 1 pound lighter. It also pinpoints better than the 250 for a newbie. The target notch ID is more accurate on the 250. The F2's numeric read out is good to about 4 inches. The overall build quality is better on the 250. However they are both good machines and either one will do him fine. Personally I would lean toward the Ace 250 over the 350 and F2. The 350 has grouped some targets together where the 250 has not. Also the larger DD coil on the 350 will be a bottle cap magnet for a newbie. I think the smaller coil on the 250 is better suited for most coin hunting over the 11inch DD coil on the 350. The resale value on the 250 is higher than on the F2 also in case he wants to sell it?
