I was at my local park here in Utah, I have hunted this park for years. The Park Superintendant says that he does not want people hunting in his park. Just because he doesn't like people who metal detect. There are no laws on the books, and there is nothing in the statutes about not detecting parks or public land, or BLM land. Basically he told me that it was his call whether or not people can detect in his park or not, and that he calls the police on people that detect. I told him to back off, Mr Gardner and that it was not his call. Am I right? Any help or information will be greatly appreciated. What do I need to do to protect our rights to detect in public parks?
