Hi,
I'm brand new to the hobby, but it's something I've always wanted to try. Anybody else hunting near Garden Grove CA?

Never hunted Garden Grove, but I'm a couple hundred miles NW of you.
Silver Sabre Plus was my favorite machine for a loong time!
You will do very good with it.

The only vice the Silver Sabre Plus has is it's size. It's weighty and bulky compared to the newer models. Other than that it will do the job.

Learn where your instrument DISC's out nickles and Zinc cents, then make little mark on the dial at that point. I use a bit of bright tape.

Then when you get a signal, turn up the DISC control to learn where it cuts out - now you have a nice Target Range indentifying detector!
