I just bought a used pioneer 505 with some extras for a back up detector or an extra if a friend wants to come with me, it should be here in 1 1/2 weeks or so and im just wondering what to expect from the 505, and any advice or coments from users here thanks Z

Ya there's ppl with a 505 this just isn't a super busy section of the forum. I have never used a 505 but I'm sure it's gonna be fine gl with your new machine and welcome

The 6.6 khz Bounty Hunters (Pioneer, Legacy) is an older model design, but very good machines. The 505 is top of the line in the older models, IMO. It has all the bells and whistles to find coins and jewelry to 10" deep. Many newer designed don't even get those figures. There is one guy on here, I believe he's BH505man, that has used his 505 like a champ through the years. He is probably someone to hook up with to get some valuable knowledge from.

There are many older models that hold their own. The 505 is definitely one of them.

Hi, welcome to the BH Forum. And yes, I can vouch for the fact that the Pioneer 505 still holds it's own and is one of the deepest seeking detectors made by bounty hunter. With the 11"DD coil it comes close to the performance of a Fisher F4 (a slower recovery speed though). You'll also find that the 4" coil is a must have for searching trashy areas.

The 505 is a gooood machine.
I started out with one 5 years ago. Ran it hard for 3 years, averaged 3000 coins per year and lots of goodies. Short and simple learing curve You will like it.
