there should be a general forum, anyway, im new to this thing, I joined after i saw some centenarios(wiki centario), im from Mexico, and some people got rich because they found gold coins in their own houses. The majority of them found them by luck, anyway, I'm from a town where the revolucionarios werent really popular, but my grandparents are from these colonial town located 200 km to the west from here.

My granpa is always talking about the places where revolucionarios placed their money, hint: many of them hided their gold next to trees, and others in houses, im not going to get into details because you probably dont care or do not understand my english, but im trying to find a good metal detector, specially silver and gold, not that expensive, I'm expecting to dig no more than 2 meters (6 ft), I know things of the revolutionaries and spaniards, i know caves, ghost towns , ghost war forest. etc.....

oh, and the revolutinarios used to dig holes and place their gold and take it later, many never took it, and also rich people dig holes to save their coins and money because banks didnt exist or were corrupt. (this is Mexico lol ).

how much should i expect to spend on my first metal detector? and what is the best one?

ps. (my granpa is an aficionado of this, he has one metal detector but never uses it because it doesnt detect deep stuff, hes the one begging to start this hobby and i like the idea, he says hes too old to enjoy of the found gold, but im young.). :)

Im 22 years old.

Hi Villa, A good Detector to get For a good price is a Whies Prizem, MickFin

I would check with our sponsors and see what they can do for you. I know several good starter models: ACE 250, Fisher F2, Whites Prizm. Give the sponsors a call. Tell them what you are wanting to hunt and how much you want to spend. Good luck to you, Beale.

I don't know of any detector that will detect 2 meters. Generally the better the detector and the larger the coil, the more depth you will get. Something to consider is if people buried something they would want access to, they're not going to bury it 2 meters deep. It only has to be out of sight. Lots of folks have found caches in the US and they aren't expecting to detect 2 meters. I would guess 18" would be a big strectch for most detectors I know about. Google 'cache metal detector' and see what pops up....Regards...Jim

I was perusing the cache portion of another forum and found a long post with a picture of a detector that is made for what you are going to do. There is even a post from another person from Mexico who owns one. If you'd join the forum, people could send you a private message and give details without displaying it here. I don't know if the moderators will allow reference to another forum but it has the specific information you ask for.
;...That post is spot on to what you asked. Jim It won't allow me to post that forum. Sorry!
They claim 2 meter depth. The detector is a Garrett GTI 2500 Pro with Treasure Hound Eagle Eye coil set up. Looks expensive but they say it goes really deep.
