Hello

I am new here. Just bought an X-Terra 70 yesterday at the Gold Show in Carlisle.
Should be shipped to me this week and when I get back into town 2 weeks from now I can go out and see what it has to offer :)
Hope I made the right decision. Origionally I wanted to purchase a Whites MXT. What sold me was the buzz created by the X-Terra 70 as seen as I entered a lecture room that just featured metal detectors.People in several different rows were still talking about it.When the next lecture ended I ran to the MineLab booth to see for myself what I missed about what the X-Terra had to offer ( I didn't attend the metal detector lecture). I handed the rep a test card that had a tiny , tiny flake on it. The Whites MXT was shown to me earlier using this card. He illustrated the X-Terra 70 ability to eliminate iron while still picking up the tiny gold flake. He used a iron hot rock that was about 3 inches in diameter and as he made several passes the hot rock signal was gone and the tiny flake was detected while placed on the opposite side of the hot rock. The rep handed me the hot rock and the test card and challenged me to go over to any other dealer and have a detector find that flake on the other side of the hot rock. He would buy me that detector if it did. Took his word for it because it seemed to pick up that flake further and easier than the Whites MXT did. The pull tab demo was impressive also. It finds a nickel every time, but ignores the pull tab.
Hope that the demo wasn't smoke and mirrors, and I hope it will hold up compared to the MXT.

PS. Any Central New Yorkers on this Forum?

Hey Brian,
Oneida here. You might try Jerry's Treasure Den off Geddes St on Charles I think it is. Used to be a great place to hang out and swap stories.

Howdy Brian. This is Brian from Washington State. I am also new here and pretty new to detecting. I just bought 2 X-terra 70's from Bill Southern at an outing in Gold Basin, Arizona. So far I am really enjoying my X-terra. My wife and son use the second one and they love it too. So far it it's been alot of fun to operate, though I still have a LOT to learn about the machine. First day out with it, we found coins. Second day out with it, we found coins, pull tabs, pop tops, lead, nails ... you name it. Lol Once we get alittle more comfortable with the gold mode, we'll take it to our claims and hit the bedrock for nuggets. Can't wait! I think you'll be very happy with your -70. Remember to read the manual over and over... watch the dvd (or go onto you tube and watch the video there) and practice alot with it in the yard. It'll become easier each time you use it. Good luck!

Thank you Cors. I am jealous. I started my gold prospecting fever in Arizona. Would love to have a claim someday. Can't wait to find my first coin and someday nugget!
