Hello!

I've put a couple post on here but I've never introduced myself. I'm a correctional officer on the lower eastern shore of Maryland. I've always wanted to pursue metal detecting as a hobby and just recently purchased a pioneer 202. So far I love the machine and the hobby. Due to my schedule I only get a couple of hours a week to get out but I have the weekend off in a couple weeks. I will be traveling to Smith Island, Md., where I'm from. It is a small island in the Chesapeake Bay that has been inhabited since the mid 1600's. It was a stopping point for the British on their push to Baltimore during the war of 1812. A few cannon balls have been found while foundations for homes have been dug. I'm hoping to have a couple of good finds to post when I return. Until then keep swinging.

Welcome aboard and good luck in your hunting.

Just a word of caution. Old cannon balls are still ordnance and some of them can still explode. Do some research ahead of time and locate an artifact hunter if you can so they can help you on what to look for. They may look old, but some still pack the original bang. I am not trying to scare you away, but knowledge is key. I have had to pick up pieces of people who didn't know the difference.
