Hello everyone got a goldbug pro on the way, been reading all the great posts, you guys got me chomping the bit, can't wait until it arrives, and can get it out in the field. Many thanks for all the great tips and information. jim

Welcome, Jim! HH with the new rig. The Pro is an easy to use and very effective rig for many types of hunting. If you are just starting out here are my three best suggestions.
1. Learn your machine well- read the manual and make cheat sheets to carry in the field until you don't need them (then keep them in the car).
2. Practice using what you are looking for- hear what metals and coinage sound like and how they sound at different distances from the coil. Dig everything in the field until you are confident you know what it is before you dig (then keep doing it 'cuz you never know for sure).
3. Develop neat clean and speedy recovery techniques. Always throw away trash you dig and fill your holes like you were never there.
Beyond this... find a seasoned mentor if you can; research great places to hunt (you can't find what's not there); never stop learning and improving; and MOST IMPORTANT enjoy yourself. When it stops being fun call me, I do funerals.

Hi Jim-----Congrats on the purchase of a fine detector & welcome to the Forum.----You didn't say if you were new to detecting or not but that was excellent advice from the Pastor.---Except his last three words in his msg.---at 73, makes me a little nervous. :)-----Not really & I'm joking---we KNOW where we're going, right Tom!!----------Back to subject matter: the name of the game is enjoyment in detecting AND leaving the place as good as (or better) than you found it after target recoveries.-----------Del

Hi Tom- Del no i am not new just haven't had a detector for a while sold my quattro because of a bad back but have since had surgery and think i might be able to swing it for awhile Actually I've had a couple of mine-labs have a friend who thinks highly of the fisher brand and after much reading though i might just well try one plus its a very light detector, and from what i have read its suppose to do very well on gold. Yes i also agree with leaving the area you detect in better than when you arrived i always carry out all the trash plus i use a cloth to put dirt on so as to get it all back where it came from than put back the plug on top of that i am not so good that i always get the target in the plug sometimes have to do a bit of digging. Maybe pinpointing will be easy-er with the fisher. Thanks for the warm welcome i will let you all know how it goes when i get to go hunting .thanks Jim - Tennessee

Gold finder for sure.
