Hey all I'm new to this site and just wanted to say this is such a cool site. Ive owned 2 whites detectors in the past. I can't remember the first model, but the second was the Silver Eagle. Both were excellant models. I just recently purchased the DFX. Haven't had a lot of time to use it other than in my own front yard which hasn't been more than 30 years maybe, but I did manage to find around 50cents in clad coins and 1 hot wheel car lol. Well anyway wanted to introduce myself and wish all a Merry Christmas. Oh by the way what is the best way to clean clad money? Rock tumbler? If so what kind of media shuould I use in the tumbler?

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPP NEW YEAR!!!!!!

If you haven't gone to the DFX users forum on this site, It would be a good one for you. I use a rocker tumbler to clean my clad. I use any small gravel (aquarium gravel will do). If I'm at the beach sand will work. For my pennies I use a little vinegar and salt. For my other clad a little dish soap and ammonia. Just make sure to tumble in a little soap and water to wash off the vinegar and salt after the pennies are clean. For really bad coins you can try THE WORKS toliet cleaner, it is strong. Rob

stop in the dfx classroom and for the tumbler you can just hit the word tumbler in the search area and read away...lots of past posts!

Welcome to the forums wolfchief.Rob is right on the $$ with his advise. I use sand in my tumbler, but that is just because I had a bag left over from when I had a pool and that was filter sand. You should separate the copper coins from the silver colored coins before tumbling or you will have copper colored quarters, dimes, etc.
