Golden, I just had an idea. I may have already shared this with people on the forum before, and it's probably not a "huge idea", but food for thought. When I was about 15 (that was over 4 years ago)
, "just seeing if you're paying attention", when I was a "young whipper snapper", my folks took me on a vacation to a place called Catalina island, 26 miles or so off the coast of California, near Los Angeles or Long Beach. When the boat arrived and docked at the pier, I noticed that there were young boys clamoring and diving in one spot. What was going on, was the people getting on or off the ship, would throw them coins, so they could dive for them. Now this was back in the early sixties, and I don't know how long "before" that they might have been doing that. I got in on it too, once we got our hotel, and I bought a diving mask. Of course with your new scuba gear, that just gives you even that much more flexibility in this water arena. Just a little thought, but again, like Charles Garrett always preaches, we should always try and do our research and talk to the "old timers" (like me), hee, heee, and find out what and where people were doing things way back when that might have involved money or treasure. i.e. some of the old popular swimming holes "way back when", that only the old timers might know about, that aren't necessarily being used today. I know you know all this stuff. I'm only re-iterating it for you and anyone who might be interested. For any of the uninformed in this "research area idea", one of the other areas people can check up on is their local historical society. I've seen some old pictures of the town I live in here, San Diego, and saw that they had an old amusement park at one of the local beaches way back in the late 1800's I think it was. It's totally gone now, but I've been thinking of hitting that beach area, where the people hung out around the old amusement park, to try and look for some old coins. And just remember: "IF IT AIN'T UNDER YOUR COIL,,,,,,,,,,,, IT MIGHT AS WELL, NOT BE THERE!!!!!!!!! Marc.
