HELLO GOLDEN

Hello golden, nothing great to share just daydreaming alot about being in Austrailia MD beaches (etc), I am constructing a MD cart out of a pedal bike pull behind trailer so i can pull it full of gear and go on some long MD hikes. Sound stupid? I hope your doing well, sounds like you know how to enjoy life! HAVE A GREAT DAY, JOE

Hi Joe, sounds to me like a great idea about the cart!!! Australia does have much to offer on detecting sites, but it's not an older country like some where you'd find really old coins to 1000 years or more! I dream about some of the sites in England! Been watching this program each week here on a Tuesday Night here about English archeologists digging up old fort bases and old remnants of settlements and occasionally they run a detector of a spot and find and old coin or two, but when they find a gold coin, I'm transfixed! I've been out MDing quite regularly also. Would like to make up a trolley myself to carry our air tanks for scuba diving. Some of these jetties here and very long, and by the time I get to the jump off landing, my back's killing me from the weight. I'm dying to get into the water fast and relieve the ache! Let me know how you go with your trolley!

Golden, I just had an idea. I may have already shared this with people on the forum before, and it's probably not a "huge idea", but food for thought. When I was about 15 (that was over 4 years ago):clapping::rofl::spin:, "just seeing if you're paying attention", when I was a "young whipper snapper", my folks took me on a vacation to a place called Catalina island, 26 miles or so off the coast of California, near Los Angeles or Long Beach. When the boat arrived and docked at the pier, I noticed that there were young boys clamoring and diving in one spot. What was going on, was the people getting on or off the ship, would throw them coins, so they could dive for them. Now this was back in the early sixties, and I don't know how long "before" that they might have been doing that. I got in on it too, once we got our hotel, and I bought a diving mask. Of course with your new scuba gear, that just gives you even that much more flexibility in this water arena. Just a little thought, but again, like Charles Garrett always preaches, we should always try and do our research and talk to the "old timers" (like me), hee, heee, and find out what and where people were doing things way back when that might have involved money or treasure. i.e. some of the old popular swimming holes "way back when", that only the old timers might know about, that aren't necessarily being used today. I know you know all this stuff. I'm only re-iterating it for you and anyone who might be interested. For any of the uninformed in this "research area idea", one of the other areas people can check up on is their local historical society. I've seen some old pictures of the town I live in here, San Diego, and saw that they had an old amusement park at one of the local beaches way back in the late 1800's I think it was. It's totally gone now, but I've been thinking of hitting that beach area, where the people hung out around the old amusement park, to try and look for some old coins. And just remember: "IF IT AIN'T UNDER YOUR COIL,,,,,,,,,,,, IT MIGHT AS WELL, NOT BE THERE!!!!!!!!! Marc.

Hello Joe, I use full scuba. Some of the jetties are over 500metres long. Hence the reason for a makeshift trolley to carry our tanks on, and wheel them to our jump off point, before donning.
