Hello, from Sherman, Tx

Hello Hello.
I'm Blake from Sherman Tx. I've been wanting a metal detector for a while now so yesterday I decided to treat myself to one. I went to Academy and they only had one (Bounty Hunter Tracker 4) so the decision was fairly easy on which to purchase. lol
The only question I have so far is, the reason I've been wanting one is because our local swimming lake was so dried up and low that I figured all those people who lost their rings while swimming, lost them in spots that I could walk on now and maybe find some neat stuff. The question is... is that a logical way to think aboutt it? Any other advice you guys have for me would be great too. Thanks a lot. Look forward to talking with yall.

Hello and welcome to the forum...I've heard that the Tracker IV is a good detector ( I have a Time Ranger). It sounds like you a good place to into this hobby...have fun and happy hunting.

Welcome Aboard !!

Hello and Welcome to Findmall.com Bounty Hunter Forum !!

Hi Blake
Yes by all means go to that dried up lake and to the swimming hole first.
Just REMEMBER that any Gold rings, charms 99 pesent... will read as pulltabs so before you go if you have a( gold your/wifes/anybodys ring) see around where it reads on your detector , a large mans ring will not read tha same as womans small ring but most womans rings have valueable stones in them.
So dig all pulltabs and other iffy signals.....any good sounding hits both ways.....happy hunting!!
thanks Gary G.A.P.metal

Heya Blake! Welcome to the forum and the "addiction".

That swimming hole sounds like a great place to go detecting.

Like Gary said....test some rings and other jewelry to see where to set your Tracker. If you discriminate out too much, like some foil and pull tabs, your detector may not sound off on small gold rings, ect. You might even want to see how no discrimination works if there isn't a lot of iron present.

Have fun and Happy Hunting!

By the way, the Tracker 4 has a lot of loyal users here so you should be able to get lots of good advice.
