Hello from Alaska: MXT ?

Hi,
My names Jason. I live in Alaska, and just recently got a new MXT From Alaska Mining and Diving. You will see I went on a posting spree. Glad to talk to people of like mind. I have one Serious Question about the MXT. When I am hunting sometimes ( happened about three times in areas of high mineralization) in Coin and Jewelry mode I will hit
a good signal, but there will be no screen readout as to what I have found. I can pinpoint the target and get a depth but no text to identify the target? Is there a logical reason for this? Thanks, Ive only been using it for a couple weeks now.

Hi Jason.
I dont know why your MXT will do that. Mine always puts up some text attempting to ID the target. When you say high mineralization, what kind of number are you talking?
Most of the soil here Ive been hunting in NJ is between 40 to 70 and the text always comes up, either in C&J or Relic modes.

Hey Neil thanks for responding. I dont have a number for you right now, but I am going out detecting today. I will get you a number. There is a lot of hot rocks here almost everywhere I go. So far I have mainly used my detector in local parks and tourist areas. Yesterday it happened again after I posted. There was a lot of manmade metal in the area I was hunting. Im still finding alot of stuff but this seems like a weird glitch.
Have a good day.

Hey Jason, where abouts do you live in Alaska? I spent 4 months up there when I was in the Coast Guard patrolling the Aleutian chain. Stopped at most of the islands, Adak, Sitka........Kodiak for refueling and supplies..tough place to live in the winter for sure.
Neil

Hey Neil,
I live in Soldotna Ak on the Kenai Peninsula. Its about 3 1/2 Hours south of Anchorage. You have long winters, and beautiful summers. Great place for fishing and Gold Prospecting.

I went to our beach today and got a ground mineral reading of 71. We have lots of black sand on our beaches. Yes we have Gold but mainly flower gold.
It makes setting my discrimination a little interesting.
Have a good morning

When the target is really deep, the machine can't ID it, and the VDI display remains blank. If you're getting a blank display on relatively shallow targets (like 4"-8") I would suggest a call to White's.

I am getting a good signal on these targets as far as tone goes. It could be that the targets are too deep for the I.D.. I did not realize that there was a depth that the detector may not be able to give an I.D.. This may be a step in the right direction. This does not happen to me often, and other than this everything seems to be working well. Next time this happens I will pinpoint the target and dig it. I will post how deep it was.

My guess at this point would be you've gone over some target that is deep enough that the machine can't ID it, especially with ground up in the 70's. It's amazing how deep some of this lightweight junk can get, but diggin those deep tagets sometimes yields some nice finds! Good luck Jason!

I have since dug a couple targets that fell into this category. and they were very deep. Nothing to speak of but the MXT was on manmade iron. Thanks for the help.
