Happy Thanksgiving. I miss you all and wanted to say Hi and God Bless You for the holidays. I have been busy as can be and have finally accepted that even though I am not detecting now and haven't in many months, it doesn't mean I won't do it in the spring or over Christmas break. Life has been great. I have a better relationship with myself and my wife, have finally given up tobacco (6 months now) and school is almost over. Many great things happened when I began asking for help and accepting it. As Elson would say, "Life is good."
As far as metal detecting goes I still keep the detector in the car when it is not too cold and I saw a sidewalk being ripped up yesterday here in Plattsburgh. Who knows I may get out today. I talked to Donny a few days ago and he told me a story that I wished to pass on. He had been saying for years that we should hit an old ethnic camp by a lake back home in. I said a friend had hit it before and the friend knew his stuff when it came to detecting. (It didn't occur to me that I heard it from a friend of a friend.) Anyways he went there and had his first 15+ silver day as well as a Brittish copper and wheaties, buffaloes and a few indians. He said, "I don't think your buddy ever hit the place." My thoughts are Perhaps he hit it decades ago when only 15 silvers was a small take. I have an oldtimer friend who used to hit Lincoln Park and Washington Park in Albany and get 50+ silvers in a day. It made me think about the other places people said they hit and also the places they asked permission and the owners, "Don't let people hunt there." I have accepted other peoples denials as my own at times and never asked permission only to find another person hunting the spot because they had asked. It all goes back to the saying, "Nothing ventured, nothing gained" or "There is a principle which is a bar against all information, which is proof against all arguments and which cannot fail to keep a man/woman ineverlasting ignorance- that principle is contempt prior to investigation." (Herbert Spencer)
Either way I am glad my friend got a chance to get some nice digging in and I look fwd. to digging with him and some of you one day. For now I will remain greatful for today and for the knowledge I have friends and family to share the holidays with. God bless and enjoy today....
unless you had other plans.![Smile :) :)](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
