Hello everyone

bluesky

New member
I'm new on here. Thanks for letting me read all your great wisdom and knowledge. Everything I've learned about metal detecting I owe to going back months and months and reading your posts.....This is the best forum I found.
I just started thinking about metal detecting about a month ago.....I just ordered a silver umax.......
Thanks again for your help..I'm looking forward to chatting with you guys....

Welcome to the forum Bluesky.

I like your choice in the Silver. I think it is a great metal detector to start with.

I have a Silver and don't plan to part with it. It is one of the three I have kept.

I guess you noticed we like our Tesoro's. Some as an addition to their arsonal,

and others like me who have Tesoro's only. One thing, there are a lot of expereienced

MD'ers her who have given Tesoro a chance and stayed with them.

Hope for the best with yours,

Welcome to the forum,
I have only been detecting for about a year and a half and have found these posts to be very helpful.
I, like you went through months of posts when I first got into the hobby (although I call it an obsession now) and learned many tips and techniques that would have otherwise taken many years of trial and error to figure out.
From what I have seen, many of these folks have been detecting for many years and have a vast knowledge and experience to draw from.
Good luck with your new found hobby and I look forward to seeing your finds.
Happy hunting,
Felix

Welcome Bluesky: I want to get you all pumped up about your silver here are just a few of my many finds with it hope this gets you excited, Dan

Welcome Bluesky... I'm sure you will like the company here! Congrats on the new purchase :tesoro: :detecting: HH TonyTX

Or this might get him going.
I found this sense I got my
first metal detector in 24
years, late last summer.

I learned how to do this on this forum about 5 or 6 months ago.

Best wishes and happy hunting,

Bluesky

That's nice, I like that!

So much more upbeat than Blackhole, Bucketofblood, or Darktab.

I'm kinda with Stevie Ray Vaughan, 'you can't change the weather,' but with a bluesky attitude and a Tesoro, you'll do well!:)

HH

Welcome, I also just purchased a Silver uMax.
You are going to love that detector.

Posts like those make you want to get out and swing.

Welcome - The Silver is a fun machine.
IMO - the first thing I would consider adding is a quality set of headphones, and if your into trashy areas, the 5.75 coil will help separate the targets and gets good depth for its size.
The only problem I found with the Tesoro's, is like that old tater-chip commercial - "bet ya can't have just one".
Anyway the Silver is light weight, the recovery is fast, has nice audio, and most of all is fun to use. HH
