Just like to say hello to everybody,im from south wales over here in uk,At the moment using minelab 305,in between buying a new detector,iv got to say it is a fantastic machine im finding roman coins roman brooches, and alsorts of artifacts, but I just cant seem to be able to find silver hammerd coins coins with it,im using the 10.5DD coil,i was using a whites v3 fantastic machine but just abit heavy on your arm all day, cheers guys,

Welcome! And congratulations on what you HAVE found.

Only in the UK, the stock coil is the 10.5" MF DD. Elsewhere the stock coil is a 9" DD concentric coil. From what I've gathered of others in the UK, those elusive roman hammered coins in your soil conditions respond to HF coils better. Many there swear by the 10.5" HF DD for recovering "hammies". The reasons are multi-facetted and somewhat complicated, but are based in physics. Regardless of the how and why, the result is that if hammered coins are your objective target, an HF coil is likely to be more productive.

I would also add, that balance can be improved by turning the coil around backward, which effectively places more of the weight of the coil behind the mounting point.

Can only guess you're in the right spot. Keep at it and I'm sure you will be posting your silver and gold coins soon. Good Luck
