I have a AT PRO now but am looking to buy another detector..Here are my choices of detectors I am looking at. Whites MXT PRO and the VX3 I mainly do this type of hunting old school property, old home sites, parks old and new, beaches, and farm fields. What would your choice be. Thank you
And the two who responded didn't read the question. His choices are the MXT Pro or VX3.
Most people don't respond to questions like this because no matter what "help" we offer, Moose has to make up his own mind for his own reasons what is best for HIM and his hunting style and ground. Does he need the multi-frequencies and adjustability of the VX3 or would he be just as happy with the simplicity of the MXT Pro?
Hi Moose,i recently bought an mxt pro after years of indecision on this machine.....i wish i had bought it a lot sooner.I purchased an sef 8x6 coil for mine and i'm really enjoying using the mxt.....it's sensitive, has good depth and has a good recovery speed.I can't believe the amount of tiny targets i'm getting with this machine....even the 12" coil picks up the tiny stuff.I just feel confident that if i take my time and search thoroughly i won't miss much with this detector.I've used a lot of detectors through the years but this one just gives me a bit of a buzz and that's what it's about for me.....going out and enjoying the search. There are other great detectors out there but the mxt is up there with the best in my opinion.
I'm with Scoper on this one. I've had excellent results using the standard MXT and don't feel that I need more. I'm admittedly a knobs versus menus person so I'm not interested in the DFX, VX3 etc. While those that become really familiar with those machines can do a bit better, it's also possible to set them up to perform poorly, so knob simpilicity is it for me.

I am interested why you are looking for buy another detector.Other than having one for a back up what is wrong with AT PRO. Only asking because I'm thinking about buying AT PRo.
Mainly because if I had an AT Pro, I wouldn't be looking for another detector. The same would apply if I had the White's> Now when I win the lottery.....
I bought one of the early AT Pros and really enjoy using it.. It's a good machine and a lot of fun.I also bought a VX3 4 mos. ago and it's become my machine of choice. But with this being said the AT Pro is a great backup on rainy wet days and around and in water, I also keep the 4.5 sniper coil on the AT Pro to keep from changing coils all the time. But at the end of the day the VX3 exceeds the performance of the AT Pro in all areas by a good margin. I'm not brand loyal I just like to use the best tool for the job.
