I have been reading and watching the videos on the v3I and the vx3 and I understand that you can set the tones so that they sound different and also run the freq.
one at a time all at the same time on the v3I and you can not do this on the vx3. Is the v3I harder to operate do you think than the vx3 or about the same. I am
trying to make a good decesion on which detector to buy,and is the v3I worth the money . I would like some help please. Thank you?

Hi there. If you are used to the Whites machines the learning curve is not so steep although there is still a period of learning to go through. The V3i will do all the Vx3 will, but the Vx3 will not do all the V3i is capable of. If you are willing to spend the extra cash I would recomend the V3i is the way to go!

The VX3 does not have Tone ID adjust or Best Data but you can run single frequencies or three frequency Correlate. Here is a chart that tells you the differences between the two. http://www.findmall.com/read.php?66,1497249

I would say that neither are hard to operate, both are very capable detectors right out of the box but the V3i has more to learn and remember if you want to use the advanced features it has to offer. To me the extra money for the V3i is worth it because I use and like some of the features on the V3i that the VX3 does not have.

you really wont go wrong either way. i like simple machines so i have the vx3 and love it. the v3i has so many setting on it that i would never use...look thru the threads and their are a listing of them. the vx3 is alot deeper than my mxt,mxt pro,and xlt...picks up smaller targets better also. im finding coins at 6-7 inches deep on a regular basis using the 6x10 ..with my mxt 5 inches was reaching deep, it would wisper on them. thats with 6x10 coil. i went over an area at my local park ive detected for years...the vx3 was pulling deep clad out like i had never hunted it. i dont understand it but its true. that was my first trip with it. found silver at the square here in town,a place ive hunted to death also.. at my brothers house i found 5 wheat cents all in the 9 to 10 inch range..his yard has been hit by him and i since 1978.i did use the d2 10" dd at his place. all of the wheat cents were very close to iron.. so the vx3 will find goodies at great depths. it has alot of adjustments, just the ones i was looking for. if you want to have 5 diff ground filters, change your screen color, adjust your tones, etc the v3i is your machine..whites told me both machines have the same horsepower and should get the same depth with the v3i having alot more adjustments. i got mine with d2 coil, rechargable battery system, wireless headphones and saved over $300.00 over v3i.

oops 8 filters on the v3i not 5 like i posted. i will say my dealer gave me a great deal on my vx3 ,other wise cost would have forced me to the v3i. if whites would have had the vx3 come with the d2 coil,or rechargable battery pack would make the vx3 a better choice.

Im a new Whites/v3i user, and so far so good. I really like being able to set the iron tone to 0 so I dont have to hear it instead of discriminating it out. I can still see there is iron near by with the display while just listening for good tones/targets. This option really quiets down park hunting while relic hunting I can use threshold audio or mixed all metal audio with discrimination audio when I want to hear everything. At first my v3i felt a little hard to figure out, but this quickly went away and I love all the menus and settings I can choose from. I recommend looking at the reference links sticky at the top of this forum for great information if you decide to get either of these machines.

The V3i is a much improved version. Refined I guess would be a better word.
The VX3 is a simplified operating version of the series with a 950 coil........... I might add the 950 coil works well, and mostly better, in our soil Moose.

Knowing you from your posts, the areas you detect, get the VX3......... You will enjoy it more, understand it better, and get great results........ Shoot with a tallman rod.. and a nice small coil for trashed areas, you'll be digging silver by the hands full.... (WELLLLLLLLL Silver anyway) maybe not hands full LOL

...other than configurability and accessories, is that the VX3 has no analysis screen. You have two search screens, (Spectragraph and Pinpoint) instead of 5 to choose from.

no I did not have a v3I. Can a person change the tones of the targets so that they sound different on the vx3. For instance if you want a quarter to sound high and a nickel
to sound low and the dime to sound medium can I do this on the vx3..

Yes and no. The VX3 has Tone ID (191 tones) and the quarter is a high tone, the dime is a lower tone and the nickel is a lower tone yet. You can turn the Tone ID on or off. What you can not do with the VX3 is change the tones that are assigned to each VDI like you can on the V3i.

I still think the VX3 would work well for you.... Same depth less options on the machine....
