Hello everyone, I just bought an MXT Pro, and I'm loving it!

So i got the metal detecting bug and I did a ton of research, I finally decided on the MXT Pro. I have never touched a metal detector in my life. My first day out I spent 2 hours at a local swimming lake that has been drained down 10' or so for invasive weed control. I dug a bunch of nails and sharp pieces of metal that some kid would have stepped on this summer, and dug 62 coins ($4.75). My second day out I only had an hour while my wife shopped for groceries, so I hit the same spot again. About 50 minutes into it i had $1.50 in clad or so, a gold plated wedding band, and a few more kid cutters in my pouch when it hit! A solid 25 cent signal. I like to dig quarters, they add up fast, so i got to digging. Little did i know i was about to dig up something that takes some years to find......a solid gold nugget mens ring worth around $1600.00! WOW what a find! I'm going to put it in the lost and found section of the local paper for 30 days to see if anyone can identify it, but if not i just paid for my MD in 3 hours time! The MXT is awesome, i was worried because of no experience but apparently that didn't matter because theMXT is a very learner friendly machine>

I can't wait to get mine... and like you.. a newbie.. would be nice... to hit something like that.. can't wait

Welcome to the world of the MXT and welcome to the forum. Congratulations on your awesome finds. You're doing fantastic! More than likely if the ring was deep down, it's been in there for a few years. Good luck and please be VERY leery of people contacting you about the ring............some will say anything to get a "free" piece of valuable jewelry when it's really not theirs. HH, Nancy

Congratulations, it sounds like that ring has some weight to it. Your story and a picture to White's might be worth another $100 for you........:clapping:

Congrats on that super ring find.
Your a fast learner and now hooked for life:laugh:
Be careful about giving awaythat ring to anyone.
Nice gesture just don't get taken .

Thank you all for the welcome and the advice. I won't say anything in the add, just ring found call to identify. I love this forum already, it's full of any and all info that someone like me (newbie) needs.

You're very welcome and believe me, we've got a lot of wonderful people here with a lot of knowledge of the MXT. Glad you're here too. HH, Nancy

you'll find it's not worth the headache to try to find the owner. if visitors from all over the country come to your lake and the ring has been buried for some time then you prrobly won't get the real owner. it may sound bad to some but i say keep the ring or sell it.
i darn sure wouldn't have posted a picture if i was going to try to find the owner. say, now that you mention it i recognize that ring. i lost it at the lake last summer. aaaaaaaa, what lake was it you found my ring??? enjoy the profits of your treasure finds.

Haha, I guess that was dumb. I doubt if anyone from my town would ever be on this site. I've lived here over 17 years and I've never seen a person with a MD. But also I need the size of the ring please...I know the size of my wedding ring that I lost haha. I didn't even make it to one year before I lost it!

if you don't have any other mders in your town then your park must be a treasure box. the ring is the same size as my ring finger.
if it ain't 14kt.or 24kt. then it ain't mine.:spin: it took me about five months til i seen my first mder in my park. now i know of at least four others who have been hunt'n this park for years before i arrived. some are down right sneaky. early morning or late evening hunters. flashlight hunters.
you should make a signature and list the area you live around. no details. just south havana or north dakota or like that. if you have people close by, you might have some hunting buddies. three have found me from the forum.it's very nice to have someone to hunt with.you also get to see other machines in action. or learn from someone with the same machine as you but who's had their's longer.
i could have sworn that was my ring. come to think of it, the only ring i've owned is the one the wife had made for me last year for our 40th. the fact that i'm still alive tells you i still have the ring.so i quess that ring isn't mine. but if you want to send it to me, i'll look for the owner here in s.w. washington.:wiggle:

Thanks for the advice. Signature added. I would like to find more MDers. My 12 year old son is really liking it too, he's saving for his own MXT. My wife just likes to hang out with me whatever crazy thing I'm doin! I'm planning on going out to hit the receding glaciers as soon as it gets a little warmer. I'll let y'all know how that goes, not expecting too much.

Maybe this was meant to replace your wedding ring! How about that?! Honestly, it's strange how things work. HH, Nancy

be sure to wear a helmet around those glaciers.
i've been drooling about the gold that has to be under them for years. every time nat'l geo shows one cleaving into the water i have to wonder how much gold is right wear that iceburg just dropped? now they're showing how the glaciers are receading and exposing areas that for centuries were covered. and you live up there. get your bride a camera. if she won't hunt maybe she'll film. seems you already have hunt'n buddies. you have buddies, mxt and gold country. way to go.
