going to wrap gifts and went downstairs to my basement to get the paper and opening my utility room door, I smelled a strong odor of gas!! I called Laclede Gas Co emergency immediately and they sent a man out right away. My smaller furnace which I have to heat my basement has a gas valve that won't shut off so was leaking gas. The service man shut my furnace off and tagged it, so have to wait now until I can get it repaired. Laclede fixing it would cost about $200, so will talk to my neighbor who's son works for the gas company and see if he will put on a new valve cheaper for me. Even the service man was trying to save me from having to put out so much money by suggesting company men that live near me, but didn't know them but he and I both know my neighbor's son!
Pray that the furnace will be taken care of properly in time!
God is so goooooooood to me. One man in Jefferson County was laying carpet and using a type of glue in his basement and sparked a fire in one of the gas appliances and blew the place up, burning him pretty badly...haven't heard how he is which happened less than a month ago!
