hello all / MXT vs Sov GT?

Hi everybody! I have posted on beach and water detecting forums in the past. New to your forum. I've been swingin my thing for many years. Love the Water!! I own an Excalibur 800 and a head hunter diver. I also own an MXT which I am going to trade in on a Sovereign GT. Any feed back on the Sov. GT compared to the MXT???? My feedback on the MXT is its great if you want to listen to bleeps blings beeps farts and twangs all day but I would rather be diggin then scratchin my head wondering. The MXT seems to get a solid hit and then it vanishes. The soil up here is highly minerilized. My mxt reads upper 70 or lower 80's for mineral content in prospector mode (I hunt in relic mode and lock ground setting after I ground balance). the MXT can not handle high minerals from what I see. How does the GT do in heave minerals?? hope to hear from any former MXT owners to see if all my problems have been user errors (I dont think so though) I think I'll be much happier with the GT any thoughts?? Happy hunting.

I have both the MXT and been using the Sovereigns for years. I let my wife use the MXT more than I do, but find it to be a excellent detector. To me it is quieter then the Sovereign and you can swing the coil faster. Overall the MXT will get the quantity while the Sovereign will get the quality.
I find many that have the MXT try to run too high of gain and run into a lot of noise and signals that disapear while lowering it down a bit it will run stable and ID much better. I will run a higher gain if I have a iffy one or even if the ground is good, but for normal hunting it is 9 or less.If you havent tried a DD coil I think you should as the stock coil is a little more noisier for some.
The Sovereign will see more as you see with your Excallibur and on land you will get many more signals as you will be listening to everything other than iron will null and working some of these signals to get the best response, so to cover a area it will take much longer with the Sovereign than the MXT, but you will find coins the MXT will not see. The MXT will tell you what to dig and what not to with it beeps while the Sovereign will give you more info and let you decide on the info if you want to dig or not.
Both are excellent detectors and being I learned my Sovereign well before i used the MXT I found the MXT was so much fun and easy to use. My wife will find more with the MXT than I will with the Sovereign, but my finds are older and better ones, but she will beat me too with the MXT as older and better ones too as she just got the coil over the good ones I didnt, but in 75% or more of the time the Sovereign will be the one with the older and deeper coins.
