Today, weather was awfull to say the least. High winds, constant rain and very cold. But at least it wasn't snowing like it did a couple hundred miles up north. Luke came to my house at 08h00 as usual, but we decided to stop for a breakfast before submitting ourself to the elements.
The first stop was with hope the lake had been drained, which wasn't. That virtually reduced our chance to near zero as we knew the place was hunted down solid by other detectorists. We had hoped the drained lake would give us access to some of the deeper spots that can't always be hunted out. Well we tryed our luck anyway, but we left pretty fast after finding only a couple of coins.
Next stop was a gamble..that we lost again. We wanted to access a camping site that used to be quite profitable. The only problem is whom you ask to get in. Unfortunatly, once again i ran into the wicked with of the north who refused and didn't even bother to give me an explanation when i told her that most camping sites are happy to see us take the trash away... oh i love to drive for miles to see her face... her brother in law is a mutch more pleasant fellow and never gives us any problems. And her husband... well he's so scared of the wicked witch, he ask us to ask his wife's permission. Since i'm a cop... i wont go there without permission... it's not hard to do, but i just can't do it... so the hidden gold is open to bolder people.
Okay, enauph crying... i still remember the 4 gold i got there last time So we drove down for an other place... no sign of the owner. Stopped again to an other place... boss isn't there can't give permission... passed thru the exit for the next one... then nobody around again at the next stop... arrrggg ! It was 12h30 and all we had in our pockets were a few coins.
So our last hope in that area was a small place i knew nobody would refuse us. We took a fast lunch and got our gears ready. Fortunatly, nobody visited that place this year... well at least we had a few signal to work on. Rain and wind were beating us badly but we didn't cared... we had signals to dig!
First silver of the day for me was this nice cross and Luke got a silver ring about at the same time. Later i went a little too deep and icy cold water got into my gloves and wadders... outch ! Now what's in the basket... oh great, at least i got gold ! A small 10K ring, stone got lost but who cares... at least i got gold today!
Later me and luke each found a silver chain just about the same moment! Luke's chain is mutch bigger thaugh! Once again i went too deep and more water in the gloves... now all that for a penny! Signals got scarcer after a while and I decided to quit. Only one hand was a bit cold... but we are so well equiped... we usually sweat under all those coats.
Well, this is today's result... a bit more than 16.00$ in change, one gold and two silver. No record but was fun to beat the elements once more. If we are lucky, we might have a full month of detection ahead... but not a lot of targets to hit in the secret book.
