heavly trashy areas

hey everyone!
I have been hunting a very trashy old baseball diamond these last few days, also a few really trashy homesites! I can usually get through the trash pretty good with all metal mode, and a smaller coil!
But...
I have never used the high trash setting before, is this very accurate? I hear that you have to sweep faster or something? Anything helps thanks.

According to Andy Sabisch's book, I believe, it's not as accurate as the normal mode, but the recovery time is quicker, so apparently if there's two or more targets close together, it should respond to each object quicker which would be good in that citation. Your right about the small coil. I have a 5", and it really separates the trash more accurately because of it's small size. I think the accuracy on those two different modes may only be a couple of numbers on the readout's difference, so you might as well give it a try and see what happens. I prefer using the smaller coil in really trashy areas, but you can't cover as much ground with the small coil either, so it's a trade off. Good luck and let us know what you come up with.:|

Hi Silver, I agree with Beachguy in that High Trash setting isn't as accurate as Low Trash setting. But the High Trash does help you recover more quickly, which is important when you're dealing with really trash areas where the targets are in close proximity to each other. When I work trashy ground, I tend to sweep very slowly, and concentrate on the signals and tones, as you can still hear the good targets from the rubbish. But the slower sweep will give your detector that bit more of an edge in recovery. Also if you suspect a good target, try coming at it from different directions. The small coil is definitely the way to go. I use a 7.5 inch and do very well in trashy ground, so the 5 inch should be even better again. Good to see you're giving it a go!
