Heat wave today but still had to break the ice

Encouraged by Joe in MD's post, I just had to go out and break some ice. Today's higher than normal temperatures had the ice melted to about 3 feet out from where the water first meets the sand. The scoop readily broke up the ice and let me get out to where the swimming normally happens. I was pleased with $1.47 today. Higher than normal nickle count, dug up 6 of them.

In addition to the fishing weights, 22 caliber bullets and normal junk, I found a little star earring that matches the one I found on January 4th when the water here was not frozen.

No gold, no silver, but a wonderful day to be outside (no wind).
Cheers,

Good hunt buddy, you did better then Scott in Maryland and I ....Think I came home with 5 coins, 5 sinkers and a few pieces of junk jewelry. No ice at the Point...was good and flat...except for those big ships...

we have to hookup....in the future

OBN,
Less water movement here than at the point keeps the ice here longer. One of the neighbors was feeding the sea gulls and those flying rats hit me on one of the gauntlets with their droppings as they fought for the bread. Dipped the gauntlet a little lower in the water to rinse it off. I don't care much for sea gulls; or for people feeding them.

I think your lower target count today is a testament to how well you guys clean up the point and how much I miss and leave for the next time at my local spot.

Do need to get together at some point. Not sure if I want to hard-wire mods on the blue tube I got or do it with connectors. I'm liking this blue tube.
Cheers,

Ive had the connectors for a good while now tvr and they allow me to swap my skullies and GGA. If the headphones go South you have to do a repair, so it doesnt matter. But at least i do have the ability to just throw on the other pair of phones. You guys make me cold just thinking about getting in water with ice.

You guys would probably only wear your swim trunks here in the Gulf. 57 degrees. Tough birds. And that's something about that star !

Excellent! Thats a dinky little .22 short I see in there?...finding the other earring for the pair match is really cool too!:clapping:

Dew,
Thanks for the input on the blue tube!

Dew and Dancer,
I was in Panama City Beach last October for a week. In that water in swim trunks and a T-shirt, with water temps about 79 to 80 degrees F, after about 2 hours I was cooling down enough to get out and warm up on the sand before going back in. For the weather here, chest waders with a couple layers underneath and full length gauntlets with a couple layers of long sleeved shirts underneath and some head wear does wonders; yesterday I was starting to get too warm.

Mudd,
Yup, found one short .22 casing and two .22 points; one with the tip smashed in, one in nearly unfired shape. Figure maybe someone had a pistol trying to plink the ducks.

Cheers,
tvr

Even 80 degree water gets cool after a few hours....but when it drops to 60 4hours and its an experience I dont like without a wet suit. For what they cost..... no need to be macho at my age. Did it one year and noticed id get cold and hot flashes the rest of the day.
