heat + cold

All detector manuals say not to expose them to extreme heat or cold but I think a lot of us do. I have had to leave my minelab locked up in my truck while at work and fortunately haven't had a problem yet.
From what I have read on some forums it seems most detectors can handle this occasionally but was wondering about the C$. Is it more sensitive to heat then other detectors?
Not sure how heat effects electronics but think as it cools down condensation may be a factor too . Does anyone have any tips on this subject and the best way to take care of a detector that has to be left in the car on a hot day? Is it better to keep it in a carry bag or out?
