Has anyone had to curtail their hunting due to the heat and humidity? I am in far western Illinois and have tried to go out in the early AM to hunt but can only manage between one and two hours before the heat and humidity have drained all of my energy. We have averaged 95 degrees and 75 + humidity for almost a month now.
I've not been out on a "real hunt" for several weeks. In addition to heat indices around 115 degrees, we've managed to miss all those rain showers that passed through here recently. The ground is so dry it would take a jack hammer to penetrate it. The only good thing is that you don't have to mow the lawn when it is brown!
Hang in there.............. fall is just around the corner! HH Randy
It has definitely limited my time hunting. I'm pretty much a die hard getting two or three hours in a couple of nights during the week and 5-6 hours one day on the weekend. These last couple of weeks have just been too hot and humid.
We did manage to get 5 hours in this past Saturday without too much difficulty but I haven't been doing any week night detecting. I've come to the conclusion that anything above 90 is just not worth it, especially with the high humidity.
I'm ready for some nice fall detecting but don't want to rush what's left of the summer.
Thanks for the encouragement Randy. It's somewhat reassuring to know that even pro's like you are susceptible to the heat and humidity. Fall will be a very welcomed relief.
