Found this yesterday and besides hitting it with my digger :( it is one beautiful relic but after hours of researching I have not come up with the age of the item or what it was. The hinged pin assembly still works, the pin ends are sharp so I assume it was worn on an article of clothing and possibly something was attached to the center hole at the bottom or was an to anchor it somehow. Aprrox 1 3/4 x 1 1/2 in size.
