quote from another source:

C & G Technologies

C & G Wildcat, VLF-TR Discrimination.

The C in C & G may refer to Cat, but the G refers to Gifford as in Jack Gifford, father of James and Vince, who subsequently left and started Tesoro around 1980 to 81. Jack proceeded to manufacturer the Deep Search Series of VLF-TRs based on the Wilcat circuit and turned out the BEST VLF-TRs of the early 1980s and because of their TR circuit, there is an edge over many a motion circuit with an uncanny capability of spotting good targets hidden under nearby bad targets.

The Wild Cat also employes a Stacked or Co-Axle Loop which virtually eliminates power line or EMI interference. Jimmy Sierra was later to come out with his own Stacked Coil called the Eliminator which was designed for White's Detectors. This is an incredible coil and will not pick up on the top so you can go under swings and gym playground equipment and detect coins and jewelry masked from NON-stacked coils.

The "C" in C&G refers to Ray Crouse ( or Croutch), I can't remember. Memories get like that when you're old!! These were very forward thinking machines for their time but, unfortuneately, not popular. When the company folded, Jack Gifford went on to start the Tesoro company and many of the ideas and features were carried over into his early Tesoro machines. There was also a C&G Bobcat at this same time. I had a Wildcat way back when and my recollections are that it was a very straight forward machine to use. Flip the switch to normal, set the threshold, set ground balance and discriminate. If my memory serves me correctly, I believe that there was a swich to change the lower end of disc so that everything below pulltab was eliminated. It should be a lot of fun for you. Sure would like to spend a couple of hours with it just for old times sake!!

Ray Crum it is!! Never was any good with names anyway. As I stated earlier, I had a Wildcat and was impressed enough by it, that when Tesoro marketed the Aztec and Deep Search series, I tried them There has been a Tesoro in the stable ever since. Thank you guys for bringing back a lot of good memories.

I have one too, only mine has been well used, but works. good machine, stacked coil works on tot lots and under metal playground things. can get closer than other machines. too many batteries though. original owner cleaned up under bleachers and playgrounds it was told. local pawn shop owner bought his finds, and unit when he passed. family had no interest. look for oxidized connections in tuner switch and battery boxes, easily fixed. i have a manual if you need a copy, send me an address to dixiedigger57@hotmail.com. Melbeta and joe(tx) on compass forum and vintage detector forum sent me a lot of info. it is a vlf, some say tr also. manual says vlf. it works regardless. not a tech person, and novice hunter on a tight budget and limited time. supposed to work in salt sand, but those trips are postponed way into next year due to unforseen circumstances. if i can find it in my emails, will try to post manual. not very good with computers and how forums work. got to get a child to show me. old dogs are hard to learn some new tricks. man it looks good and new! they also had a bobcat, lynx and another couple of models. got some literature somewhere around.

good copy of manual on vintage detector forum just posted days ago! mi(ia) posted it to cactus bill i believe. i have a schematic somewhere i will post when i get directions how too!
