I've got a Silver Umax, any suggestions on which headphones to get or do I really need them???As all ways thanks for the help.

Yes, you certainly should use headphones with any detector if you are indeed serious about finding the deep stuff. I've never used the UMax series from Tesoro but have used the TeJon. I believe any of the well known brands will serve you well. I personally like the Gray Ghosts, SunRay Pros, and Killer Bees. I have a pair of GG Ultimates I may turn loose. Let me know if you are interested.

Yes you need good headphones.

Most affordable are Killer B'a and Gray Ghost basic, single volume models.

They have life a time warranty and save you money because they are excellent,

and you won't need to buy another pair unless you want a back-up.

Some people don't agree that you need good headphones, but I won't leave

home without at least one pair. Even If I'm just going grocery shopping.

I keep my Compadre and Gray Ghost in my trunk unless there is extreme

temperature or humidity. I keep my digging tools there always.

HH,

Using headphones will extend your battery life and allow you to hear those faint, deeper signals more clearly. Good quality phones will enhance the audio characteristics of targets and you will be surprised at how much information you gleen just from the sound. Personally, I use Killer B's.

Hey GRB let me know if you decide to sell/trade the GG ultimates, Beale.

I recommend Grey Ghosts. They really block out outside noise so you can hear the faint signals.Plus, I think they have a lifetime warrenty.

and yet one more reason to use headphones is your detector speaker won't make a sound while you're in the park.
