headphones

Hi Formon, I always use the phones, I can hear the roll tone in the threshold tone of very deep targets, deepest dig yet is over 12 inches and a ladies ring, a couple of silver toe rings a couple of 50's canadian dimes. The phones also eliminate surrounding noise.

Always.....saves on battery time, hear audio more precisely and keep attention away from others which will often times result with 1,000 questions (time wasting) or a parade of little kids following you like a pied-piper.

Heh, soooo true. Also why I love to hunt ghost towns :detecting:

Though I've often wondered if I could hunt without them, I guess a fellow should practice a little just in case..they are nice in the winter or on windy cold days to keep the ears warm too.

I don't hunt without them. Those little pips that signal coins and rings amongst the trash really help me find some good stuff that my other detector would miss. Plus, I pretend I can't hear people sometimes when they are talking trash and it keeps a lot of people from asking questions when I don't have much time to detect. I don't mind talking to people, but some of them go on and on and I really have a hard time getting to metal detect, so it helps out some that way. You will miss some good signals without them.

One would indeed be foolish to hunt without headphones. You can make all the excuses in the world not to wear them, but if you want to come home with the loot, put them on every time. Get the best ones you can afford too!! Using poor quality 'phones is not worth it either. You get what you pay for, as they say. I've tried a lot of different kinds and found that the good ones are well worth the dough. I'm currently using the new Grey Ghost Ampbians and am really impressed with the sound and comfort, much better than my old Grey Ghosts. Frankly, I would feel nekked hunting without 'phones!!

Lol John, forgot about the kids and questions, an very true you can politely ignore and keep detecting lol

THE PHONES MAKE THE BATTERIES LAST LONGER, KEEP THE TOURISTS OUT SOMETIMESSSSS, AND DO HELP YOU HEAR BETTER TONES. HH-MARK
