headphones so my cheap walmart headphones broke i am looking at geting a pair off net what works well i do most of my hunting with deleon a silver and tejon but mostly deleon so any help would be great thanks

There are many good ones, I personally like the Jolly Rogers made by DetectorPro.

There are multiple choices, opinions and price ranges.
Find something in your price range that has a volume control, is lightweight, comfortible and durable. If they reproduce music well, they'll work for detecting.
I use an old pair of Sony MDR V600 and my Cibola is modded with a volume control. (The Sony MDR line has been a studio/broadcast standard for many years)

I use the original Gray Ghost or Gray Ghost Nugget Busters on all my detectors. Sharp, crisp sound, seal out external noise well and are well made.

pettit.........First thing to do is decide what's the most you can spend. That will narrow-down the choices. Then go to some of the metal detector & accessories dealer websites and make a "possibles" list, including dealer names, makes, models and prices. Then if you want opinions from Find's Treasure Forums members, post your list of "possibles" here, etc.,etc.. This will make it easier for us to help.

As for myself, I have a pair of RatphonesMax that I purchased from Rick Viola, dba Detect USA, operating at 5347 NW 122 Dr., Coral Springs FL. 33076. I paid around $125.00 + 6.00 S&H when I bought these headphones during the summer of 2008.

As far as my overall opinion of the RatphonesMax headphones, I am very satisfied with them in every way after 3-1/2 years of service !

Before doing this post, I tried to Google the company using "Detect USA". The result was, there is a website called Detect USA, but it is under a different administration now and their Home page, dated Nov.29, 2010, advises "Sadly, The Rat Phones are no longer associated with this website and I could not find a supplier." So next I Googled "Rick Viola" and was sent to a website called Manta (helps small businesses) and I copied the following information from their page.

Rick works at:
Detect Usa
5347 Nw 122nd Drive
Coral Springs, FL 33076-3630 map
Phone: (954) 753-5855

If you want to pursue the Ratphones further (if in your price range.), perhaps you can locate Rick Viola-Detect USA with some additional web-searching. Otherwise, maybe some of the other members here can offer more information on the company.

On the other hand, maybe you would prefer to just forget about the Ratphones and go with my suggestion at the top of this post. :)

Good Luck on whatever you decide !

I would like an opinion on an idea I have for a new set of headphones. I like the Nugget Busters but the head piece squeezes so tight that I thought about CAREFULLY heating it to release some of the pressure. Is that possible and if so, how would I go about it the "right" way? Thanks.

The Sunray Pro-Gold's are a nice set of headphones!
They have a switchable volume limiter (I found this function really nice)
They have a two position detector type toggle switch.
They have a very high reduction in ambient noise, so that faint target responses don't get drowned out,
They have a nice coiled cord that don't fight you in cooler weather,
They have leather ear cups (very nice).
They also have dual volume controls (good ones)

The problem with these for me was they are a bit pricy, but I've found two used sets here on the forum that made them affordable!
Before the Sunray's I used ear buds from big-lots! (The Sunray's are worth the money that I've got in them) I got them used for about $70.00 each.
