Just going to buy a Sov.My hearing is not the best, wondering which headphones to buy.Need good volume, sensitivity and wind and surf noise blockage.Should probably also have a limiter for the stronger signals. Thanks and H.H. John

Ive been impressed with the Sun Ray Pro Golds. Also, Ralph will take care of you on any problems you might ever have. Volume control on the phones, limiter, crisp sound, and fit nicely to block out sound. I think you will find many in the upper price range have the same specs. But there may be a little difference in how they interact with your machine.

I Absolutely recommend the Black Widows from Detectorpro. I can use them without the hearing aids that I have had to use daily for 15 years, hear everything, but no pain or blast. Volume individually adjustable, durable to the nth degree, comfortable. And the warranty from Detectorpro is bullet proof.

Hi papajohn,

I am with you and cdsmith with loss of hearing. I can tell you about the Sun ray pro gold as I have been using them for about 6 months. everything dewcon touches on is true. The thing I like the best is the limiter switch. I crank up the volume full blast on my GT, flip the limiter switch on and adjust the volume for each ear. I have read from other people (here on the forum) that have hearing issues that the Black widow or the timberwolf headphones work very well for them. Check them all out and compare features. Best of luck and HH - Jim

I also use the Black Widows from Detectorpro , clarity and outside noise blockage is great. I hear the Sun Ray Pro Golds are just as good but have not tried them yet. Shannon

I have to cast my vote for the "Black Widows" from Detectorpro.

I have hearing issues and I find that the Black Widows work very well.

So Many different headphones out there that work great, but will say those made for detecting with the background sound blocking work the best. I have very bad hearing so the volume and tones is very important for me with my Sovereigns and the E-trac so I have a pair of the older Timberwolfs for my Sovereign as they do the best for me. Now on the E-Trac the Troy Pros have the best volume and tones for my hearing so I have a set of them. Now i found a set that works good on both the Sovereign and the E-Trac made by Detector Pro for another dealer called the Bushmasters that has the volume and good tone quality for me. Now that is my hearing being it is so bad, but the Sun Ray Pro Gold works great for many around here and one of my hunting buddies has 2 sets of the Detector Pro NDT and extra replacement cable so he will never be caught without a working headphones.

blackwidows are what i use on my excalibur.....
