Headphones

If you have wireless headphones that are not version 1.3, they need to be sent in with your machine. Wired headphones that you are using don't need to send in. As long as they are stereo the will work fine withe the V3i. If you are going to run stereo mixed mode, you will need to have stereo headphones. Mono will not work in stereo mixed mode audio.

Hopefully the headphones you purchase from here on out should have the latest software and won't need to be updated. When you try to run stereo mixed mode audio if you have an older set (version 1.1) some will be quiet with no audio, others give really odd audio sounds. The older ones are not compatible with V3i. However, the software in the phones for V3i is compatible with V3.

Just like when people got some old stock non v nulled coils form their dealers in the beginning, I'd make sure that if I was buying a SEPARATE set of WHP that they were version 1.3. This would save you the trouble of having to send them in for a upgrade.

I have the "first generation" headphones. The sound drifts from mono to stereo and back again. it does not bother me too much. It is just an inconvenience sending them in. I was told by Mary at White's that when I send in the V3 for the upgrade (in three weeks or so when the service centers are set-up) to include the headphones as well.

FYI, the service centers on the East Coast and Mid West are not yet doing the upgrades. When they are set up in a few weeks you need to send the control box only; no lower rods, coils etc. This will keep your shipping costs down as the USPS now charges for oversized boxes.
