Looking to purchase a new set of headphones for my MXT any suggestions welcome.

Thanks HH Butch......

There's many out there. I use and love the SunRay Pro Gold. Do a search on "headphones" here on the MXT Forum and you'll find many many suggestions. HH, Nancy

Hi DJ, I don't know if you have hearing proablems or not. But if you do may I suggest the baest (IMHO) and thats the BLACK WIDOW SPIDER headphones. I've lost 75% of my hearing in combat and the BWS headphones have seperate vol adjustments and noise limiters( you can tone down the vol.*** if it gets too loud when you hit on a recovery.
Some of the others will give you a good choice also. Nancy/Larry/IL really like their brand. the BWS's are more expensive but I got what helped me. So you havea good choice out there depending on how much you might want to pay for them. *** They have 2 switches on the R-side hp, 1 is to mute the hps the other for either low or hi vol. Good Luck HH:detecting: KC

I think the most important consideration about headphones is to own a pair that are comfortable, also I like to be able to adjust the volume.I have detected over 30 years and currently use a MXT. There is nothing worst then hunting for several hours with headphones that hurt your ears. Being able to adjust the volume to your comfort level is a plus. The brands I use are RAT PHONES and KOSS UR30's. There are many good brands on the market with a range of prices, but for my money the two I mentioned our my choice.

Well thanks for the info like I said I am looking have the Whites but I want another set and figured I would ask. No no hearing loss as of yet but with all the years of work before retirement and being a pirotec (fireworks shooter for many years who knows lol) thanks again

Wow all the help thanks folks didn't think I would get that many responses thanks again.

Don't know if they're still available, but we're having very good service from Radio Shack's wireless setup.

From all the postings I've read it seems that all the upper end phones Gray Ghost, Rats, Bees etc. are good. The main thing is to find a pair that is comfortable for YOU and has the sound to suit YOU. That said, I have several pairs of Gray Ghosts and can vouch for the fact that the sound is much cleaner, sharper and crisper that the cheapies I started out with, but the sound is somewhat on the treble side. I haven't had the opportunity to try many of the others, but as mentioned, I believe the sound quality is good.

I want to second the Black Widows the limiter switch is awesume when you go over a smashed can and the sound overloads. They are build for a lifetime of use also. The price is steep but truelly worth the price paid.

i recently got the grey ghost headphones abt 1 1/2 months ago. the sound is ALOT cleaner and crisp. it took alittle getting used to from the cheap ones i had but i really like them and they do block most of the noises. kind of makes me paranoid cuz i cant hear someone walking up behind me anymore..LOL
but it is also personal choice and if you run into someone that has a set of phones you are looking at ask them to let you try them on so you know what you like and dont like, then make your decision.

Hello!

After purchasing a White's headset I decided that it just didn't it!
Honestly, White's makes a fantastic product but their headsets did not meet my expectations.

With this being said, I purchased a pair of the Black Widow headphones which I received today.
I ordered them from colonial metal detectors on Friday. ( They ship same day - great service)

The Black Widow headset is the best headset that I ever worn. It's even better than the
expensive aviation headsets I wear when flying.

I don't think you would be disappointed and if you don't like em, they will take them back.

Happy Hunting!

I just received the Black Widows and am sending them back. They work real well but they are way bulkier then I expected. My old ears are still pretty good so I don't think I needed the enhancing features they had. I'm replacing them with the original grey ghosts and will see how those work out.
