Headphones...??

Hi, I'm looking for some help here to make a decision, I need some headphones for my MXT and my GTI2500. I'm thinking in a Gray Ghost Ultimate or Sun Ray Gold.
I will appreciate any commentaries.

I have used Grey Ghost Originals for 3 years or so and my wife uses Kellyco's Accusound headphones which are also made by the makers of the Grey Ghosts and they both work just fine, and neither have had a cord failure. My wife thinks hers are better than the Originals because of the dual adjustments. They are in the $100.00 range and well worth the cost without going overboard. JMHO HH Dennis in Idaho

I have both the Gray Ghost "Nugget Busters" and the "Nugget Busters" NDT. I like them both l, but not sure I'd spend the extra on the NDTs unless I needed a volume control on each ear. The standard NBs has one control for both ears. The NDT (no down time) model comes with a removable cord and a spare, but I haven't had any trouble with the cord on either model and there's a fair bit of difference in the price. I haven't tried the Sunrays, but understand they are very good phones as well.

I reckon the Whites Royals (red) sound OK to me. You can spend a squillion on a pair of headphones which doesn't necessarily mean they will suit the machine your using. The Whites headphones can sound as dead as on other brand detectors but plug them into a Whites machine and they sing, and visa versa. I know a guy who recently spent $200 Aussie on a pair for his MXT and was kicking himself as they sounded lame. He then got a pair of the Whites for a fraction of that cost and reckoned they kicked his expensive ones into the next solar system. High price doesn't always mean great performance and I reckon that there are thousands of people out there kidding themselves that their $200 headphones are the best thing on the planet.

I use the Whites Royal GT headphones that came with my MXT, and like them allot. I bought the Gray Ghost Originals could not tell the difference between the two. I actually think the Whites headphones are better so I sold the Gray Ghost, I really think some of those headphones are way overrated. I also use the Whites Royal GT with my GMT they offer a good clean sound and only cost $49.95. Never had a problem with the cord or the volume knob.:whites::thumbup:

SunRay Pro Gold all the way! They leather over the padded ear pieces are so comfy and volume is superb. I've made many comments in the past posts on how much I like these phones. YES!!!!! But like all things... everyone has their own opinion. HH to all, Nancy

Gotta agree with you Hillbilly 100%, its like the Whites Royals were made for the MXT, clean , clear and crisp. And dont dint the wallet like others.

Along with the Grey Ghosts, I have a pair of the White's Royals. I like them alright sound wise, but the Grey Ghosts are sturdier, with a more substantial cord and block outside noise much better. I've also got a pair of cheapies that came as a package with a detector purchase and believe me, you can tell the difference in sound over those.

Hi, I have a pair of Gray Ghost Ultimates and the Nugget Buster NDTs. I like the Nugget Buster NDTs a little better because they are simpler to control - each ear has a notched volume knob and then there's the metal detector compatibility switch. Very easy to manage while they're on your head. The Ultimate's have one volume knob and two push-button controls, and I have a hard time remembering which is which control while they're on my head. Plus, one of the buttons is supposed to turn on the limiter, and when I push it I can't seem to tell a difference. I run the detector over big, close iron targets and get a very loud response with the button in either position. I'd go with the NDTs. Both headphones seem to kill most background noise so you can hear the detector signals better, plus they both have good volume controls. The detector sounds seem to come across clearer and smoother than the stock headphones. My 2 cents.

SunRay Gold!!!! I have a pair and have only good to say with the quality, performance, and overall comfort. There's many posts on here about the headphones. If something were to happen to my SunRay's, I would have another pair on their way to my doorstep. HH to all, Nancy
