Living in NC relic/coins hunting is great/ been using low to mid range/price headphones & /found plenty /But!!!!! Can I find more with better ears??? and What type and make is best. Then is it area sensitive /detector sensitive! Headphones used in the past Vanco/ Wht's/ Minelab. White was the worst for me very noisy while hunting. Minelab / Med noise ! Vanco the best with no noise during the hunt !! Any suggestions ! thx's gottit

Headphones for me, is a personal choice. They have to be comfortable and with good sound quality. It depends on the detectors audio circuit too. For example a perfect match for my Whites GMT just happen to be the Sony studio headphones, very clear and crisp and not too loud.Where as the Garrett Master Hunter 7 likes the original headphone made for it. They are really comfy if it is not to hot out.
Some of the headphones from the audio stores work well and not to expensive either.Sometimes you need to hear ambient sounds for your own safety like bears and social mutants! Different phones for different jobs and different detectors.
There really isn't a big mystery though. It's something like wine tasting..if it tastes good, it's good wine! Plain and simple.

I really like my Killer B's on my TDI and GMT. Comfortable and great sound. On my MXT I use RAT Phones with a limiter.

Black Widows all the way!!!!!!!!!!

Go to a club meeting or outing or meet up with others afield and try some. Visit a few dealers and try what they have. The best way is to use them in the field and try them out, but I know that's not always easy to do.

What I settled on a long time ago were the Killer B 'Wasp' models and the SunRay Pro Gold, which are essentially the same headphone with some up-grade enhancements.

The RAT Phones MSA are my choice. I wish I would have waited for the blue ones. I have the white. I never tried a pair of the Black Widows , but I have read a bunch of good reviews. Comfort is the key.
